About Us

The Public Safety Communications Association (PSCA) evolved from an informal group of pioneering dispatchers in 1991 to serve the counties of Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare.

Our purpose is:

  • Not to contemplate pecuniary gain or profit to the members thereof. It is to be operated for non-profit purposes.
  • To draw together persons who are actively engaged in the operation of Public Safety Communications into an organized body, so that the profession, in all its branches, may assess communications issues and facilitate the means of addressing those issues.
  • Promote and encourage membership and participation in PSCA activities.
  • Aid and assist in the methods, systems and/or other media for the rapid and accurate collection, exchange and dissemination of information relative to matters of Public Safety
  • To continually upgrade public safety dispatcher training by the exchange of knowledge, ideas, techniques and other areas of mutual concern or interest in the field of public safety communications.
  • To support legislation considered to be beneficial to public safety communications or education in the State of California.
  • To provide coordination in the development of public safety communication training programs by working with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training when appropriate.
  • To practice and encourage cooperation between public safety agencies, member associations and other public or private sector entities which provide (or benefit from) effective public safety communications training.
